Lost In Translation Tag!

Hola!

So, Lost In Translation is a very fun tag created by Eryn @ Love Your Shelf. You know, it’s related to languages, it was a must, I had to have done it!

And then, Nehal @Books and Words tagged me, too, and I JUST COULD NOT RESIST. Thanks a million to Nehal, for tagging me, and to Eryn, for being the brain behind such a fun tag!

And here are the rules-

  1. Pick the last book you read.
  2. Put that book in Google Translate and translate it into 3 different languages, then back to English. (Please put which languages you used to translate them!)
  3. See how close (or how far) it is to the original book title.
  4. Lastly, put the original book title at the bottom and talk about your last read!

So the languages I translated into are-

English<Cebuano<Zulu<Basque<English

And the result is

“I think”

Could you guess the book? Well, I wouldn’t be able to, to be honest😂

Ah, now the reveal!

Basically my last read was Imagine Me by Tahereh Mafi. Google Translate, you have disappointed me. I might have been the perfect imitation of 😑 emoji, that was how disappointed I was.

So, if you don’t know, Imagine Me is the last book of The Juliette Chronicles/ Shatter Me series. And I really loved the book, I liked the twists and the plot was also interesting. The writing style was simply beautiful and kind of unexpected because the author had lost her train of metaphors in the last few books, but here she was on the track! There was just this one thing, the book went a but psychotic, but that also helped to add a darkly humorous touch.

Now the people I tag-

 Riddhi @Whispering Stories

Tess @Unbound Library

Alicia @The Colorful Bibliophile

Clara @Tales Of Teacups

And of course, YOU! If you wanna do this tag, then consider yourself tagged by me, I’d love to see how faulty Google Translate is!

Looking forward to your posts!

  1. I never would have gotten Imagine Me from “I Think” 😅 I’ve read the first four book in the Shatter Me series but decided to cap it off there. I was satisfied with the first three!

Thank you for doing my little tag! 💙

  2. Imagine Me was I think??? Oh Google Translate 😂. I’m glad you enjoyed it though, I really want to start the series and getting a lot of negative feedback. I still can’t comprehend the fact that Google Translate messed up Imagine Me like that 😂
