Finally Fall Book Tag!

Uh, I don’t think it’s fall anymore, I was literally shivering yesterday, so I know I’m late, and I’m sorry for that. In my defense, I am very lazy and had a bit of a things to do!(nothing really except to sleep and read but who cares?)

So, basically here I am, ignoring my lazy self, doing the famous Finally Fall Book Tag so late that I should be ashamed of myself but shamefully I am not!🙃

Thanks a bunch to April @Booked Till Midnight for tagging me in this! If you haven’t already, do check out her blog, I’m sure you’ll find it fun!

Let’s start with it, shall we?!

IN FALL, THE AIR IS CRISP AND CLEAR: NAME A BOOK WITH A VIVID SETTING

A Little Princess - Frances Hodgson Burnett - 9780571331116 - Allen & Unwin - Australia

A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett. A fact about me – I don’t read classics, but I LoVeD this book, it was so sweet and beautiful, a bit sad, and a lot vivid!

NATURE IS BEAUTIFUL… BUT ALSO DYING: NAME A BOOK THAT IS BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN, BUT ALSO DEALS WITH A HEAVY TOPIC LIKE LOSS OR GRIEF.

Buy History Is All You Left Me Book Online at Low Prices in India | History Is All You Left Me Reviews & Ratings - Amazon.in

Ah, I’d love to go with The History Is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera. The book has a mourning theme, but is beautifully written with a bit of humour and a kind of happy ending!

FALL IS BACK TO SCHOOL SEASON: SHARE A NON-FICTION BOOK THAT TAUGHT YOU SOMETHING NEW.

Calling Sehmat - Wikipedia

I don’t really read Non-fiction, but I’ve read one, Calling Sehmat by Harinder Sikka, and I loved it. It focused on patriotism, feminism, bravery and consequences, and while these weren’t really new, they were definitely something.

IN ORDER TO KEEP WARM, IT’S GOOD TO SPEND SOME TIME WITH THE PEOPLE WE LOVE: NAME A FICTIONAL FAMILY/HOUSEHOLD/FRIEND-GROUP THAT YOU’D LIKE TO BE PART OF.

Also Known As (2 book series) Kindle Edition

I’d love to be a part of Silver family from the Also Known As series by Robin Benway, cause TBH, who doesn’t want to be a part of a family full of spies? I know I do!

FALL IS THE PERFECT TIME FOR SOME STORYTELLING BY THE FIRESIDE: SHARE A BOOK WHEREIN SOMEONE IS TELLING A STORY.

The Book Thief: The life-affirming number one international bestseller eBook: Zusak, Markus: Amazon.in: Kindle Store

I’d love to go with The Book Thief by Markus Zusak because the narrator is(drumroll) the Death himself! It was a really beautiful book, ah!

THE NIGHTS ARE GETTING DARKER: SHARE A DARK, CREEPY READ.

Compulsively Readable Thrillers - Little Monsters

I wanted to go with Sadie, but so many people had gone with it, so I’m gonna go with Little Monsters by Kara Thomas. The book was a bit slow, TBH, but the end gets so dark, that you just can’t hate this book!

THE DAYS ARE GETTING COLDER: NAME A SHORT, HEARTWARMING READ THAT COULD WARM UP SOMEBODY’S COLD AND RAINY DAY.

By Your Side by Kasie West

Ah, TBH, any book by Kasie West! But, to be precise, I’ll go with By Your Side by Kasie West! The book has a very few dark parts, but it’s still a sweet heartwarming read!

FALL RETURNS EVERY YEAR: NAME AN OLD FAVORITE THAT YOU’D LIKE TO RETURN TO SOON.

Buy We Were Liars Book Online at Low Prices in India | We Were Liars Reviews & Ratings - Amazon.in

I don’t really like to reread books, but I guess I’ll be returning to We Were Liars by E. Lockhart pretty soon! And, yes, I know I speak way too much of this book, how can I not after that end?

FALL IS THE PERFECT TIME FOR COZY READING NIGHTS: SHARE YOUR FAVOURITE COZY READING “ACCESSORIES”!

Uhh. I don’t really have a particular reading accessory, I think, I guess we could go with my blanket? Like, as far as I remember, my blanket is always there with me whenever I read, so.🤷🏻‍♀️

Um, so as you might notice, fall isn’t really there anymore, so I am not gonna tag anyone here, so if you are interested in doing the tag, and haven’t done it already, consider yourself tagged by me! And do leave a link/pingback for me so I could know your answers!

How was your fall? Have you read any of the books I mentioned? What did you think of them? Let me know!!

Laia is a slave. Elias is a soldier. Neither is free.

Under the Martial Empire, defiance is met with death. Those who do not vow their blood and bodies to the Emperor risk the execution of their loved ones and the destruction of all they hold dear.

It is in this brutal world, inspired by ancient Rome, that Laia lives with her grandparents and older brother. The family ekes out an existence in the Empire’s impoverished backstreets. They do not challenge the Empire. They’ve seen what happens to those who do.

But when Laia’s brother is arrested for treason, Laia is forced to make a decision. In exchange for help from rebels who promise to rescue her brother, she will risk her life to spy for them from within the Empire’s greatest military academy.

There, Laia meets Elias, the school’s finest soldier—and secretly, its most unwilling. Elias wants only to be free of the tyranny he’s being trained to enforce. He and Laia will soon realize that their destinies are intertwined—and that their choices will change the fate of the Empire itself.

Rating-

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Ah, what can I say? This was perfection!

I really loved the setting of the book, the Empire and how beautifully cruel it was portrayed! It was so much fun to read about Empire and how divided the people were. Another thing is that the author wrote the place with such detail, that it was hard not to see it play out before your eyes!

I really liked the writing style. I got a bit of Shatter Me vibes, and since I loved the series, it was kind of a given that I’ll like this one too! I have to give credit to the romance, I didn’t know who will end up with whom till the very end, and I think I’m still not sure, TBH!😆

Ah, the characters. I really, really loved Laia, how her personality kind of changed, in the start she was shown as a kind of a coward, but then boom, not anymore, like she was still afraid but she had kind of conquered it! I really loved her POV, it was filled with a bit of insecurities and grief. Then, I also loved Elias, about how he had so much strength but he offered resistance towards it for he didn’t want to be a killer!

All the fantasy lovers? I really think this is The Book for you!

Have you read the book? Did you like it? What were your thoughts? Let me know!

Liz Lighty has always believed she’s too black, too poor, too awkward to shine in her small, rich, prom-obsessed midwestern town. But it’s okay — Liz has a plan that will get her out of Campbell, Indiana, forever: attend the uber-elite Pennington College, play in their world-famous orchestra, and become a doctor.

But when the financial aid she was counting on unexpectedly falls through, Liz’s plans come crashing down . . . until she’s reminded of her school’s scholarship for prom king and queen. There’s nothing Liz wants to do less than endure a gauntlet of social media trolls, catty competitors, and humiliating public events, but despite her devastating fear of the spotlight she’s willing to do whatever it takes to get to Pennington.

The only thing that makes it halfway bearable is the new girl in school, Mack. She’s smart, funny, and just as much of an outsider as Liz. But Mack is also in the running for queen. Will falling for the competition keep Liz from her dreams . . . or make them come true?

Rating-

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

I feel so happy and giddy right now!

Oof, the plot was so unique and cute! I really loved how Liz moved through various social groups, rocking her way in each of them! I liked how the book started on a kind of a sad note, but ended with the feeling of I-rule-this-world and happy mood! The book was a big rollercoaster of emotions, lah!

Then the characters, I loved them. I loved how insecure Liz was, even till the end, but how she controlled it in her benefit and displayed the aura of a girl who is brave, I don’t think I’m making much sense her but all I wanna say is that I really liked Liz’s personality! And I loved Amanda, and Jordan, and ah well, I loved everyone.

The writing style, as I said, was like a rollercoaster, I loved that. And I really like how the book fought against Homophobia, and a bit on Racism, I really, really loved that aspect. The only thing that felt a bit of a turn off was that it felt a but unrealistic to me.

Ahh, if you are a fan of a good young adult, this one is the book for you!

Have you read the book? Did you like it? What were your thoughts? Let me know!

Author- Adam Silvera and Becky Albertalli

Blurb(Goodreads)-

Arthur is only in New York for the summer, but if Broadway has taught him anything, it’s that the universe can deliver a showstopping romance when you least expect it.

Ben thinks the universe needs to mind its business. If the universe had his back, he wouldn’t be on his way to the post office carrying a box of his ex-boyfriend’s things.

But when Arthur and Ben meet-cute at the post office, what exactly does the universe have in store for them?

Maybe nothing. After all, they get separated.

Maybe everything. After all, they get reunited.

But what if they can’t quite nail a first date . . . or a second first date . . . or a third?

What if Arthur tries too hard to make it work . . . and Ben doesn’t try hard enough?

What if life really isn’t like a Broadway play?

But what if it is?

Rating-

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

I think I’m in love. Ahhhh, this was a such a cute story, I was really sucked into it, and even though I got done with it yesterday, it’s still there dominating my brain!

All the characters, I repeat, all of them are the best! I really love Ben and Arthur for how cute they both are, Dylan for how hilarious he is, how helpful Jessie and Ethan were, how kind Samantha was! Everyone was there for a greater purpose, I loved how they tried to give significance to even the smallest of characters, like the twins!

The plot was so good! I really loved how and where they met, and got separated but then reunited, it was really fun to read what happens next! And the do-overs! They were imperfect and hilarious but sad and insecure at times, too!

I already love Adam Silvera and Becky Albertalli’s writing style, and I loved it here too! It felt like being on a real fun rollercoastar!

One thing that did disappoint me, though, is the end. Like okay, it was deep and sweet, but I want more! You can’t leave a book like that! I want to know how and when and everything that they didn’t reveal, this was kind of a heart break. I seriously demand a sequel here. Hmph!

Have you read the book? Did you like it? What were your thoughts? Let me know!

This was again, kind of a ‘meh’ book.

Well, it had a bit of a slow start, and it was a lot boring, because there was a moment where I was going to DNF it. All I mean to say was that to read this book, you need patience, which I very much lack, and that resulted in a big turn-off.

Then, the characters. The characters were okay, more tilted in the positive side. I liked both the Will Graysons, how similar and not they were! And I really, really loved Tiny Cooper, he is too fun a guy!

The plot was GOOD! Like, I have to give it that, it was unique! I liked the turn of events, and I loved where and how and when both the Will Graysons met😂

You see, the only thing that made me continue this one, despite the slow start and meh characters, was the plot and the humour of the author that leaked in the book. The book was simply hilarious and sarcastic, and I really loved reading such a book! Oh, and don’t you think the book cover’s just l.o.v.e.l.y.? I do!

I have to say if you are looking for a hilarious book, and have patience, you would love this book!

Have you read the book? Did you like it? What were your thoughts? Let me know!

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz | Read-a-thon Update #9!

Ciao! For those of you who don’t know, I’m participating in a Read-a-thon(to know more, I’d ask you to go here) and the thing is that I just got done with the ninth book from my TBR of thirteen! The book I read was Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz which I had picked up for the prompt You Need to Calm Down: Read an LGBTQIAP+ book!

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe - Wikipedia

Title- Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe

Author- Benjamin Alire Sáenz

Blurb(Goodreads)-

Aristotle is an angry teen with a brother in prison. Dante is a know-it-all who has an unusual way of looking at the world. When the two meet at the swimming pool, they seem to have nothing in common. But as the loners start spending time together, they discover that they share a special friendship–the kind that changes lives and lasts a lifetime. And it is through this friendship that Ari and Dante will learn the most important truths about themselves and the kind of people they want to be.

Rating-

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

I really think I’m still making heart eyes right now.

I was sucked in the book from the first chapter! I loved how author emphasized on the importance of company, family and friends, how everyone needs at least one friend, and a family who they can open up to.

Now, you see, the book had a kind of a sad aura about it, the narrator was angry and lonely, plus, there were a few accidents, too. So, you can very well say it was sad, but I loved that while reading the book, most of the time, I had a smile, and I laughed a lot at times. I am a big fan of a great humour in books, so this one quite impressed me.

Then what do I say about the characters? They were all lovely! I loved how great a father Sam was, how sweet Dante was, and I loved Aristotle the most! I loved the dialogues, especially between Aristotle and Dante and Aristotle and his mom, most of them really cracked me up, and I liked how easygoing yet somehow forced, too, they felt!

The writing! Ah, the writing style was simply poetic and lyrical with simple language, too! I loved that part, you don’t usually find books with such writing style!

The only thing that disappointed me a bit was that I would have loved to get Dante’s point of view, which I didn’t! I would have really loved to know him better! Hmph!

Have you read the book? Did you like it? What were your thoughts? Let me know!
